The Mayans Should Have Gotten A Bigger Rock

BROTHER HOVIND!!! Is Dec. 21, 2012 the End of the World? That’s when the Mayan calendar runs out!

Ahhhhh, NO! The Mayans should have gotten a bigger rock, that’s all.

Dec 21 is NOT the end of the world but it IS the first day you can watch an exciting new movie about the end times on youtube for free! :) Go to www.afterthetribulation.com for details. To be forewarned is to be forearmed. PLEASE tell EVERYONE you know (or can get to know by then) that they NEED to watch this film and get ready for what is coming! Maybe get it on DVD for a belated Christmas present?

My longtime friend and Pastor, Steve Anderson and THOUSANDS of others (myself included) have come to realize that we “independent, fundamental, temperamental, right wing, radical, chicken eatin’, Bible believing Baptists” have been deceived about the rapture for the last 180 years! For 38 years of my Christian life I was taught and believed in the “pre-trib” rapture idea that was made up by a 15 year Scottish old girl in 1830! I just trusted the “prophecy experts” to have studied it and to know what they were teaching. NOT a good idea! “Study to shew YOURSELVES approved unto God…” Hmmm? I failed at that on this topic! Not any more though!

II Thes. 2:1-3 says the Day of Christ (the day of the rapture–NOT “Day of the Lord” as in NIV and others!) CANNOT come until two things happen: A great falling away and the man of sin (antichrist) is revealed. I see now why Satan has pushed so-o-o-o-o-o-o hard to deceive people about the timing of the rapture! So-o-o-o-o-o many are waiting for the Lord to come and rapture us out before things get bad. That is NOT gonna happen and Jesus NEVER said it would! He said, “In the world ye SHALL HAVE TRIBULATION…” Jn. 16:1-4, 33. (BTW- DON’T confuse tribulation with wrath!)

Why don’t you tell the Christians being killed by the hundreds TODAY in various parts of the world that “we will not be here for the tribulation.” (See persecution.com) Tell them, “God would never let His church go through suffering.” Ahhhhh, WRONG! Study the history of the 2,000 year trail of blood Christ’s Church has endured. It will be here in America SOON! I predict that because of the disillusionment over the false pre-trib doctrine that MILLIONS of believers right here in America will “fall away” from their faith and even turn other believers and their own family in to be imprisoned or killed just as Jesus warned us would happen in Mt. 24; Mk. 13 and Lk 21! Better read II Peter 3 CAREFULLY!

If you were a Jew living in Germany in 1933 and could see the future, what would you have done? If you were living before the Great Depression in 1929 and could know what was about to happen, what would you have done? If you were living in NJ on the beach before Superstorm Sandy hit and could see the future, what would you do? Well, we have a Book that tells us what is about to happen AND what we should do about it. That’s what this film is about! Watch it and get ready.

This is NOT the time to be scared or panic. 365 times the Bible says, “fear not…” This IS a GOOD time to get SERIOUS with your Bible reading AND your relationship with God! This would also be a great time to quit playing with that stupid ball (ANY ball) and win souls! (I been sayin THAT for YEARS!) This WILL be a GREAT time to win crowns! (Rev 2-3) Jesus told us to REJOICE in persecutions because GREAT is our reward! (He knows things that we don’t :) )

Anyway, I can’t see the movie from here (unless I win my case and go home before that!) so please watch it and tell me what you think. If I can encourage you to stay true to the Lord in the coming persecution it helps me get the Dan. 12:3 prize! You can have the prize too! Mark Dec 21 on your calendar now and make a list of folks to blast an email, tweet, phone call, telegram, yell over the fence, etc to on that day to remind them to watch it as well!

I’ll see you at the finish line! It’s closer than you think! :)

Hi Kent! Hope you’re doing well, I still watch all of your old videos on youtube, I learn a lot from you.

Although, on this rapture issue, I’m not saying or implying that you’re wrong ( half the Christians say post-trib is false doctrine, the other half says pre-trib is false) but the Bible also says that the Holy Ghost will be removed from earth during the time of Jacobs trouble…..
Now, us saved Christians are said to have the Holy Ghost dwelling inside of us correct? But then during the tribulation the Holy Ghost removes himself then He would obviously be removed from us, so how would that work? Doesn’t sound right to me

Also another thing, the Bible says that yes, Christians will go through tribulations, not “THE tribulation” , the Bible never even refers to it as THE tribulation, it’s actually called the time of Jacob’s (Israels) trouble. Somethin’ to think about…
PS I’m waiting for some good debates from you when you get out! -Chris

Wow. Great commentary Dr. Hovind! I did not realize you broke tradition with the popular “fat and happy” American couch-sitting version of Christianity on this issue. I agree with you, sir. Jesus plainly told his apostles that “immediately AFTER the tribulation of those days (great trib, if you read it) then the angles would come down and gather up the elect from the four corners of the Earth.” AFTER is what He said, its kind of hard to get around that one.

The very word ‘tribulation’ implies the wheat will be beaten along with the chaff. A tribulum is the tool that would be used to beat the wheat, to separate the chaff and the grain. How can you do a harvest without threshing? Impossible. This is the language God elected to use to explain to us the plain truth, that we shall indeed be tribulated, to separate the REAL christian from the FAKE ones. Does the grain like being beaten? No. Does it have to be done? Yes.

Brother, you’ve got to read Matthew 24, read the whole thing I tells the entire. The angles gather the elect AFTER the great tribulation of those days. Love ya, man, but Left Behind is mistaking. :-)

Read Marvin Rosenthal’s book “The Prewrath Rapture of the Church” which is an excellent book and revealing of the truth about the rapture. Brother Hovind is correct that baptist have not been truthful about this topic. We proclaim that we are Bible believers, truthfly though, most independent baptist are more demonational believers than Bible believers.

Ken, it’s good to hear from you, get your stuff ready, I think you’ll be getting out soon, your voice is needed to awaken many deceived Christians. It is interesting, in the last few months, more and more people in my church have come up to me and asked about Obomacare and the link to the end times. Few are asking about Micah 2:10 “Arise and go, For this is no place (“country”, Russian language translation) of rest because of the uncleanness that brings on destruction (to the country, Russian translation), a painful destruction.” Some are starting to believe that it’s talking about America. Can you comment on this passage.
May God Bless you and your family.

Hi Dr. Hovind. Wow what a revelation for me! I have visited Pastor Anderson’s site and viewed many short clips he’s produced concerning a post trib rapture. I am convinced this is the way it will all go down. Thank you for putting me onto this. Bless you and your family. Still praying for your early release! – Jake

    Brother Kent,

I’m glad your eyes were opened regarding the fallacy of the pretrib rapture. It amazes me how Paul told us not to believe anyone who gave a different chronology of events as he (and the Lord) did. Lo and behold, we’ve done exactly that.

My only question is regarding your comment of the “day of Christ” versus the “day of the Lord”. I’m not questioning the validity of “christos” being used in 2 Thess 2:2 (as opposed to “kyrios” in 1 Thess 5:2). I would only suggest that the “day of Christ” and the “day of the Lord” are one and the same, for two reasons:

1)The Lord is frequently referred to as the “Lord Jesus Christ” in the epistles.

2)Paul even refers to the day when we’re presented to the Lord as the “day of our Lord Jesus Christ”:

1 Corinthians 1:8- “Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

So while the OT describes the “day of the Lord” repeatedly, we know the Lord is Christ Jesus. Therefore, the terminology is likely synonymous regarding “the day…”. The rapture happens on the same “day” as the Lord’s return (although the day isn’t necessarily a 24-hr day only, as it seems to span the subsequent 1,000 years). So it will be a time of rejoincing for believers, but a time of “wrath” for the wicked. At least, that’s my take on it.

    Grace to you,
    John

So sorry your hope has been stolen. No one will be asking about your hope (1Pet.3:15) since you don’t have any.
I am told you are an intelligent man. Could that be what is preventing you from believing in a miracle-working God?
The stale argument of separating God’s wrath from the tribulation, which begins when the Lamb opens the seals, makes no sense. Just as Jesus told the men who brought the adulteress to Him for judgment, He is the only One found worthy to open the seals that cast the first stone of judgment on sin.
Why would Jesus open seals of judgment on His Body? Jesus suffered and died to keep us from God’s judgment. Why would He disregard our faith in His payment for our sins? It doesn’t make sense.
There is a huge difference in the persecution and troubles (tribulations) we experience in this world, and what Jesus calls ‘tribulation such as was not since the beginning of the world… nor ever shall be! And except those days … be shortened…. no flesh (will) be saved.’ (Mt.24:21-22) They are not the same.
You say, ” I see now why Satan has pushed so-o-o-o-o-o-o hard to deceive people about the timing of the rapture!” And, ” I predict that because of the disillusionment over the false pre-trib doctrine that MILLIONS of believers right here in America will “fall away” from their faith”
But no one who is truly a believer will EVER fall away, or deny the Lord. (1Jn.2:19) How many of those in “the history of the 2,000 year trail of blood” denied Christ? They might have saved their lives by denying Him, but they didn’t! And they were expecting Jesus to return at any time!
Besides, satan has never brought a message of hope to anyone. He comes to kill, steal and destroy, not to bring hope.
God has not promised to keep us from persecution by unbelievers. He HAS promised to keep us from the hour of temptation (trial), which will come upon ALL the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. (Rev.310)
And Jesus says…. we are not of this world. (Jn.17:16)
Your words have convinced many who are not as familiar with the nature of God’s character to lose hope in being spared from His coming judgment. It’s very sad.

Hope stolen??!! Whatever do you mean!? If you believe in God you have hope no matter what… We have hope to live for eternity in heaven with our Lord and Savior.. A few years of tribulation won’t take away my joy.. I might be uncomfortable and sad at times, but God will keep my hope alive.. We Americans are so spoiled and selfish to think that we won’t have to go through any tribulation when Christians around the world suffer tribulation everyday!! When will you pre-tribbers wake up and smell the truth? It’s right under your nose, well at-least when your reading your Bible it’s right under your nose:O) Thank God Almighty that such and amazing man as Dr.Hovind has found the truth regarding such an important matter.. I hope you and your family find the truth about the tribulation, and then you will realize that your hope does not go away.. I’ve known the truth for years and I have joy and hope and I know my God will come for me is His time..Amen!!

Dr. Hovind I understand how you feel being in persecution. But I think you are going with feelings instead of scripture.
The great tribulation is not just death, it is the very wrath of God rev 6:16-17

The second coming takes us to the earth. But in the rapture we are gathered to heaven. John 14:1-3

Anyways, I’ll check out the movie if I can. God bless you! I pray you get out :)

As for the rapture – a Bible teacher called Jacob Prasch speaks about this issue in great scriptural depth so yeah I believe Christians will be here for part of the tribulation. If we aren’t here who is gonna know what’s going on? There will be a rapture (harpazo) after which God will turn his attention back to the Jews.

    God bless!

i do believe that what he is saying is that “Day of the LORD” is the day of GOD’s wrath, while “Day of CHRIST” is the day of the rapture. i am not too sure of the scripture references, so do your own research.

  9. Pastor HWKS December 2, 2012 9:12 am Reply

Well we just went through a church split regarding Steve Anderson’;s non-repentance “gospel”. (Even though the first word out of John the Baptist and Jesus’ mouth when they began their ministries was “Repent”). Now I find that this man is Kent Hovind’s pastor and that he denies the pretrib rapture!
Chilism (pretrib rapture et al) goes back to before the 4th century as far as written evidence is concerned. And obviously before that as a bona fide doctrine of believers. The apostle Paul and John were very clear in the first century and of course those writings were inspired by the Holy Ghost.
Please understand me; I am not Kent Hovind’s enemy. I am behind him totally when it comes to ceation and the KJV. I also believe he was railroaded regarding his tax issues and believe he was wrongly imprisioned. I have spent hundreds of dollars on his DVDs and books. On this issue however he is wrong.
I think there is some misunderstanding on what conditons will be like before the rapture based on what Dr. Hovind has said. I do not believe for a minute that everything will be smooth sailing until the rapture and then, pardon the expression, all hell breaks loose. After all, who can forget Nazi Germany, Pol Pot, Croatia, Rwanda and the ongoing persecution of Christians in various countries after the Arab spring/ No, things have been ugly and they will continue to get worse. The only reason Canada is seemingly immune to war, terrorist attacks and economic collapse is because of her foreign policy regarding the nation of Israel (Genesis 12:3).
The Christians are taken up in Revelation 4:1 (see also 1&2 Thess.) and they don’t show up again until Rev. 19:14 -at the end of the tribulation! The 70 weeks of Daniel are so clear with the 7th “week” of years identified as the time of Jacob’s trouble.
Remember the words of our Lord, I am paraphrasing: As it was in the days of Lot and Noah! Both were removed before judgement was unleashed on the wicked. Folks it can’t be any clearer. What did the LORD (this was a theophany Gen. 18:22) say to Lot? Genesis 19:22a, Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do any thing till thou be come thither.
Noah in like manner was taken to a place of safety before the flood (and God shut him in!). By the way the Lord was already in the ark when He said, Genesis 7:1
And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.
As it was in the days of Lot. As it was in the days of Noah. I realize the main point and context of these two statements are conditions mirroring the days of Lot and Noah but this application does no violence to Scripture.
Things got ugly for Lot and Noah before the Lord rescued them from the judgement to come. No doubt Noah was ridiculed for 120 years while he built and preached (2 Peter 2:5). He saw no converts except his family. Maybe he should have had some folks pray the sinners prayer (and not bother preaching repentance from their rebellion toward God) and he could have squeezed a few “converts” into the ark…

No question that we will endure tribulations, and many of them. The question is, “will we endure THE tribulation THAT COMES UPON THE WHOLE WORLD, the seven year period that constitutes the 70th week of Daniel?” There is a difference between ‘tribulations’ and ‘THE Tribulation,’ just as there is a difference between the many judgements that God has poured out on various cities and countries, and THE judgment that God poured out UPON THE WHOLE WORLD in Genesis. There are only two times that God’s judgment involves the whole world. Once in Genesis and once in Revelation. Now the question becomes, is the Church involved in the last one? It wasn’t in the first one.

We must define the Church. It is not Israel. It is not the Jews. Until Abraham, there was only one group of people, Gentiles. There were no Israelites, or Jews as we call them today, or a people chosen for God. God told Abraham that his seed was special. In Isaac, the seed was called (Gen 21:12-13), In Jacob, the seed was justified (Gen 32:24-30), in Joseph, the seed was glorified (Gen 41:41). The Jews are a chosen people. The Church is also a chosen people and these same steps are there for us in Romans 8:28-30. But these groups ARE NOT THE SAME. The Jews are chosen to bring forth the Word of God in the Old Testament, they were chosen to testify of the existence and glory of God, they were called to bring forth the Messiah. They were the wife of Yahweh. The Church is called for a different purpose. The Church was called to be the bride of Christ (the spotless virgin, having not engaged in the ‘adulterous’ practice of worshiping other gods), the Church is called to bring forth the Word of God in the New Testament, and we are chosen for a people for his name (Acts 15:14). It’s very important to understand this difference.

Daniel Chapter 9 has a profound prophecy in it. In verse 24, it says, “Seventy weeks are determined upon THY people and upon THY holy city…” God is talking to Daniel. Who are Daniels people? Israel. What city is Daniel’s ‘holy city?’ Jerusalem. So the 70 weeks of Daniel is a judgment for DANIEL’S people. What does God intend to accomplish? What’s the purpose of this 70 week judgment? (actually it is stated as 70 sevens, which means 70 seven year periods) verse 24 continues, “…to finish the transgression and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in ever lasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.” This 70 year judgment is a judgment passed by God onto Israel to pay for their sins, for worshiping other gods.

Now, those 70 weeks are divided up in a very interesting way. In verse 25, “Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be SEVEN weeks and THREESCORE AND TWO WEEKS: and the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troubelous times.” Without going into a bunch of history, the basics are that in 444 BC, Artaxerxes Longimonous, stepson of Esther, gave the Jews permission to return and rebuild the walls. Seven weeks of years later, (49 years) Jerusalem was restored (that’s the first division of time). The next one is 62 more weeks will complete the first 69 weeks of Daniel. When we do the math (again I’ll spare you the details, which can be provided with more space and time) and you calculate it, keeping in mind the difference in their years to ours, and you convert it, this timing is perfect for Christ be ‘cut off’ from the Jews. Exactly 173,880 days after the decree went out for the Jews to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem, Christ rode into Jerusalem on the donkey, presented himself as king to the Jews, was rejected and crucified. Verse 26 says, “And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself:…” This half of the verse happened on that fateful day 2,000 years ago. It goes on, “… and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary: and the end thereof shall be with a flood and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.” The Romans (the people of the prince that shall come, that prince is the Anti-Christ and the people are the Romans) destroyed the city and the sanctuary in 70 AD, when they sacked Jerusalem. Verse 27 now jumps into the End Times Tribulation, SKIPPING OVER 2,000 YEARS!! “And he (the Anti-Christ) shall confirm the covenant with many for one week (this is the 70th week) and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of the abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.” The entire Tribulation period in one verse in Daniel 9:27, one chapter in Matthew 24, and an entire book in Revelation chapters 4-19.

Why is there a 2,000 year gap between the 69th week of Daniel and the 70th week? Because when the Messiah was cut off, God stopped using the Jews as his primary way of bringing his word to the world. They rejected the Messiah, they cannot witness effectively for Him. In Acts, God invents the Church. Gentiles and Jews alike can accept the Messiah, and the Holy Spirit is no longer used sporatically, and for specific jobs. He is not longer WITH us, but is now IN us. He is our Comforter (John 16:7) This period of the Church is an interruption between Daniel’s 69th week, and Daniel’s 70th week. The 70th week doesn’t begin until the the Anti-Christ confirms the covenant with many FOR ONE WEEK. This is the beginning of the last 7 year period of judgment God metes out to DANIEL’S PEOPLE, not the Church.

Also, there is a difference between the Second Coming of Christ and the Rapture. Don’t get these mixed up. At the Rapture, Christ does not come down to get us, we go up to meet him in the clouds (I Thes 4:17). II Thes. 2:3, it says, “Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there be a falling away first, and the man of sin be revealed…” The Greek word used for ‘falling away’ actually means ‘catching away’ and in every other place that it is used in the New Testament, it is used for the removal of someone. THIS is the Rapture, before the man of sin is revealed (probably right before, I assume). I Thes 4:16-17 describes the Rapture. The Trump of God is mentioned, and always people get this trump mixed up with the judgment trumps of Rev. I can’t imagine a Hebrew Christian would ever make this mistake, but it’s easy for us to do, because we don’t understand the trumps. The trumps in Rev are judgment trumps (the Jews had trumps for weddings, judgment, battle, all kinds of things. It was before telegraphs, and CNN). The only other place the Trump of God is mentioned, besides the rapture, is when MOSES WENT UP THE MOUNTAIN TO MEET WITH GOD to get the 10 commandments.

I would be happy to go on and on. Please study the topic in depth, as you have Creation, not on the surface. I used to be Post-Trib, but I was converted through many in depth studies and reading of many scholars. It is a complicated topic and takes many years to connect the prophecies and recognize the patterns. Finally, I was left with no truly good SCRIPTURAL arguments to support my post-trib views. The entire scripture has overwhelming support for pre-trib views. So don’t feel lied to by your previous teachers. Get their arguments, and the post-trip arguments, and the pre-wrath arguments, we read them all.

Did you know: That Enoch, a teacher and a prophet before the flood, was born on the Jewish holiday called Shavout? He was also raptured before the flood on Shavout. This is the same day that, much much later, Moses went up on the mountain to receive the 10 commandments. The same day that God wrote his laws on the tablets of stone, He also wrote his laws on the hearts of man, because also this same day, was the day of Pentecost, and the birth of the Church. Pentecost occurred on Shavout. So, Enoch was born on the same day as the Church. Enoch was raptured before the World Wide Judgment period known as the flood. Enoch is a ‘type’ or foreshadowing, of the Church, showing us that all don’t go through the next world wide judgment. The next World Wide Judgment has nothing to do with the Church. It’s the completion of God dealing with the Jews and Daniel’s holy city, and finally, his goal stated in Daniel 9:24 will be accomplished.

I pray for you and your wife and kids. I have no doubt that your time now is a great tribulation for your family to endure. I want you to know that I believe you are a great scholar on the topics of Creation and science and I have a great deal of respect for you. Although I disagree with your view of the rapture, I do think dialogue and debate encourage study and in depth digging and I don’t think this view is in any way critical to our Christian walk. Regardless of what we think, God will do what he has planned, and we are solidly grounded Christians regardless of our view on this topic. It’s really all about Christ and our relationship with him. So, I hope you don’t take offense. I do agree with you that it is probably closer than we think, however. God Bless and keep up the studies!! Shay

So God comes back twice for us Christians? Nope, only once, after the final tribulation or tribulation period.. It’s in the Bible clear as the day is long.

  11. Shay Holmes December 3, 2012 1:08 am Reply

Also, it’s not true that the pre-trib rapture position is a relatively recent view. I’ve heard that argument several times, and I’ve even heard it said about post-trib view, but it ignores many important facts. The pre-trip view is in documents as old as 90-95 AD. Example: Papias, Clement of Rome, Shepherd of Hermas, Ignatius of Antioch, and continues on from there. The problem is, that during the Dark Ages, the Catholic Church had all Bibles printed in Latin only, and only the priests read them. The people were kept in the dark, hence the term the Dark Ages. The people were not permitted to study the Scriptures themselves, the Church and the priests would tell them what to believe. During this time, neither view was taught, because the Catholic Church didn’t believe in a rapture, or Tribulation period at all. They believed that, if they could get everyone to become Catholic (even if by the sword) then the church, with the Pope at the head, would usher in the Mellenium and Christ would rule through the Pope. So, NO view was taught for a long time. So now, people of both views find various people who thought their idea of a pre-trib or post-trib view was a new idea and write something about it, and we read it and go, “Wow, this view wasn’t even known about until 1600′s” or whenever (there are people earlier than 1820, too, for the record. I don’t know this Scottish girl, but her view was expressed before her, before and after the Dark Ages). You find fewer inconsistencies in your views if you’re willing to research the oposing view point, as well as your own. Then you will find out that this story of the Scottish girl is not true. (about her making up the pre-trib view, I mean) Anyway, thanks for hanging your views out there, open for debate. Keep studying! Shay

Glad to see that you have come around to the truth about the false doctrine of the pre-tribulation rapture. I came to that understanding a few years ago and lot of understanding comes from Pauls, writings and John’s in Revelation.

God did not appoint us to “wrath” or “his” wrath which he shall unleash on mankind. But that isn’t to say that we will not be subjected to the wrath of “man.” “Some of you shall they cause to be put to death.”

While not all Christians will suffer persecution by way of the wrath of man during the tribulation, many will however. Here is the patience of the saints.

So yes, we should NOT place any trust on a quick catching up before the *&^% hits the fan. We should be ready to experience what Lot and his family experienced right before the angels delivered them. We should also note the climate before the flood and Sodom and Gomorrah Destruction. We are living in such times, and things will get worse.

Hi, I don’t really know how else to ask you a question. But I just watched several of your Creation Seminar videos from like 10+ years ago (my grandma let me borrow them), and you explained a lot of things, but I still have one question. How did the light from the galaxy Andromeda (can be seen with the naked eye in space), which is said to be 2.2 million light years away, be seen?

Thank you so much for all that you do Preacher Hovind.
You are the first preacher I’ve ever met to say that he was wrong about something he preached. What a great honor to know you and learn from what the Lord has shown you.

Revelation 7:9-13 seems to fit in nicely with the other verses you posted.
    v. 9 “After this I saw a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne… ”
v.13 “What are these…? “(Who are these people?)
v.14 “…These are they which came out of great Tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.”

v.9 The people are so many no man can number. If the rapture happened right now, the people left behind would be easily counted. However, if the tribulation begins, then the dead in Christ rise and then we who are caught up to meet him in the air, would make sense that no man could count this number. It also says of “all nations”, there are nations already no longer in existence. Would it include some people from these? I think so.
Please correct me if I’m wrong.
    In His Service,
    Shirley

You have not been deceived. The rapture is scriptural. It is well documented and it never says anything about believers being exempt from the persecution of men. The tribulation deals with the wrath of God. Many will come to know the Lord during this time and will suffer both the wrath of God and incredible persecution, but the bride of Christ, the Church, all born again believers will be caught up at the rapture whether you believe it or not.
    Much love in Christ.

    • O. Ryan Faust December 27, 2012 6:24 pm Reply

Luis j, The tribulation does NOT deal with the wrath of God. The wrath of God doesn’t occur until the 7 vials of wrath. The tribulation occurs in the seals. That’s way before the wrath of God. There’s seven trumpets and seven thunders in between.

You have indeed done great things in the name of the Lord but you fail to keep what God has started in you. You are His son and He has not abandoned you yet you hold on to this world that hates you. Consider your self poor and rid yourself of all your possessions. Live with nothing so that others will follow. For time will come when others will go but you will stay with what you think is precious to you. When the spirit is gone, freewill will test you. Stand, like you stand old man. Stand like you were still young.

Brother Kent, I am curious as to how you came to the understanding that “the day of Christ” is synonymous with the rapture and not “the day of the Lord” [2nd coming]. Also, in 1Corinthians 15:22-26 we see that the ressurrection has 3 parts just like a harvest in the O.T. They are the firstfruits, the harvest and the gleanings. Where would you place these these three events on a Biblical timeline? By the way, I’m glad to see that you are still keepin’ on keepin on’. I would have expected nothing less from you. May the Lord bless you with physical freedom very soon! Mark

Brother Hovind, I am so glad you have seen that the doctrine of pre-tribulation rapture is unbiblical! I’ve been trying to convince my friends of it for a long time now and have posted several KJV Bible studies on my website to show the Church WILL go through the tribulation of the days Jesus spoke about in Matt. 24. Because your name is respected, I will share your article with my friends, and especially those who still believe in pre-trib rapture.

    Dear Kent Hovind,

recently a book came out ‘raptureless’ by Jonathan Welton. There seem to be a ‘new theology’ saying that there’s no endtime, that all was fulfilled in history, and that we’re living in the Kingdom of God already, and that’s why the world is getting better and better!!! What would you answer to this based on the scriptures?

Thanks for posting this. I’m looking forward to seeing the movie. I agree, first will be the tribulation and it will last 3 and a half years, then our beloved Jesus will rapture all His children to the Marriage Feast of the Bride of Christ. MAT.24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
MAT.24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
MAT.24:31 “And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”
It couldn’t be any clearer. God bless you Kent Hovind for being a shining light even in and from prison. I hope I can be as faithful as you.

    Dear brother in the Lord,

Praise the Lord for showing you about the pre-trib! It’s not only wrong, it is really also an anti-semitic teaching as it is saying, “You Jews stay here in tribulation while we fly home in safety”. Just another example of the long list of anti-Jewish theology from the church. :-( The Jewish people need us as their friends and brothers. God is still in covenant with them and He is faithful! “As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the father’s sakes.” (Rom 11:28) ALL the promises God gave to the Hebrews will be fulfilled! Because God is faithful to them, we can be confident that He is also faithful to
us. [Sorry for preaching at you!] What an awesome God we serve!

About the end-times, I believe we all need to be on the alert, watch and pray, just like Jesus told us! BTW, I do believe that Biblical prophecy was not primarily given to us to let us know the future in all details (and perhaps even make money from it!), but it’s more like Peter spoke at Pentecost: “This is that which is written”. We have an outline of what will come, but we don’t know all the details or when it will come. But the bottom line is: when it does comes to pass, we will know: this is it, just like it is written! (Like at Pentecost, they didn’t know exactly what will happen, and when, but when it came, they knew!)

What a comfort it will be! Think about it: there will be worldwide turmoil on a great scale, but in our hearts we will have comfort. God told us beforehand, He knew about everything. His Word and His Spirit we can rely on. “But the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.” (Dan 11:32)

We are praying for you. Stay strong in Him!

    In Jesus,
    Helmut

Dutch holocaust survivor Corrie Ten Boom, in a letter she wrote in 1974 entitled “Prepared for the Coming Tribulation” wrote:

There are some among us teaching there will be no tribulation, that the Christians will be able to escape all this. These are the false teachers that Jesus was warning us to expect in the latter days. Most of them have little knowledge of what is already going on across the world. I have been in countries where the saints are already suffering terrible persecution…

In America, the churches sing, “Let the congregation escape tribulation”, but in China and Africa the tribulation has already arrived. This last year alone more than two hundred thousand Christians were martyred in Africa. Now things like that never get into the newspapers because they cause bad political relations. But I know. I have been there. We need to think about that when we sit down in our nice houses with our nice clothes to eat our steak dinners. Many, many members of the Body of Christ are being tortured to death at this very moment, yet we continue right on as though we are all going to escape the tribulation.

  42. Layman4truth December 20, 2012 8:15 am Reply

Don’t confuse the Church with Israel! Folks…
    3. Basic Arguments that the Church is Removed Before the Tribulation Period Begins

    a. Argument from the Outline of Revelation.

    i. The outline of Revelation is given by John in Re 1:19 and divided the book into 3 simple sections: past, present, future.

Re1:19 Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after this.

ii. Chapter 1 details what he had seen.

Re l:10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet,

Re1:12 Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands,

Re1:11 And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last.

iii. Chapters 2 & 3 give the details of what Christ told him to write to the 7 churches. Jesus gives an analysis of each of these churches, naming people, problems, circumstances and issues that were at that moment happening and needed fixing or encouragement. Clearly Chapters 2 & 3 detail things that Jesus said in 1:19 which are.

    Re2: 1 “To the angel of the church of Ephesus write, ‘These things says He who holds the seven stars in His right hand, who walks in the midst of the seven golden lampstands: 2″I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars;

Re2:9″I know your works, tribulation, and poverty (but you are rich); and I know the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.

Re2:13 “I know your works, and where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is. And you hold fast to My name, and did not deny My faith even in the days in which Antipas was My faithful martyr, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells.

iv. Chapter 4 begins with the phrase, “after these things” and “Come up here and I will show you things which must take place after this .” This is exactly Christ’s third point in the outline of 1:19.

Re4:1 After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.”

Re 1:19 Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after this.

    v. What did He mean, things that will “take place after this”? Would He be talking about the next year or twenty years or two hundred years? The answer involves two things:

    (1) The letters to the churches were meant for all churches to read each letter. Though they mention specific details involving these 7 churches, they involve timeless truths for all churches as long as churches last.

Re2:11 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.”

Re2:29 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

Re3:6 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

    (2) The major part of what He will be revealing involves the tribulation period – chps 6 thru 19. This is clearly what He is referring to by the phrase, “must take place after this.”

    (3) The natural conclusion is that the tribulation is “after the church age.”

    b. Case of the missing church in Rev 6-19.

    i. The word church is used 20 times in the book of Revelation. However 19 of those times are in Rev 1-3 and one time in Re 22 referring for a final time back to the churches He addressed in Chapters 1-3.

Re l:11 saying, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last,” and, “What you see, write in a book and send it to the seven churches which are in Asia: to Ephesus, to Smyrna, to Pergamos, to Thyatira, to Sardis, to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.”

Re3:22 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

Re 22:16 “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. 1 am the Root and the Offspring ofDavid, the Bright and Morning Star.”

ii. There are zero references to the church in Re 6 through 19. After 19 references in three chapters why are there no references to “church” or “churches” in the entire 14 chapter section detailing the tribulation period.

The natural question is why? The simple answer is that the church is not there. Some say this is an argument from silence and is not valid. In this case the burden of evidence is on those who deny the validity of this argument to explain why the dramatic shift of emphasis upon the church for both reproof and correction to no emphasis at all.

    c. The parallel of Re 4:1-2 with the rapture.

    i. At the very point in the narrative where a the outline of Revelation leads the reader to think about the “things that are after this” – after the church age and before the tribulation – we encounter two astounding verses.

Re4:1 After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.” 2 Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne.

    ii. Notice the parallels:

    (1) John is a church age saint who has written “the things which are” now writes, “After these things”.

    (2) He hears a trumpet and sees a door standing open in heaven along with a voice saying, “come up here” perfectly corresponding to the rapture passage of 1 Th4:16,17

Re4:1 After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.” 2Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne.

1 Th4:16 For the Lord Himselfwill descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ win rise first. 17Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.

    (3) The next phrase we encounter in Re 4:2 are the words, “immediately I was in the Spirit”. This is the exact sequence of events we would expect if this passage is portraying the rapture.

Re4:2 Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne.

1Co 15:52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

1 Th4:1 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.

    (4) Then following the “immediately I was in the Spirit” we read that He is ushered into the very presence of God. Compare this with 1 Th 4:17.

Re4:2 Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne.

1 Th4:17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18Therefore comfort one another with these words.

    (5) This is exactly what we would expect from Jn14 where Jesus tells His disciples that he was going to heaven to prepare a place for them and would come again and receive them to Himself that “where He is, they will be also.”

Jn14:2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

    (6) The rapture is portrayed in a symbolic manner [much as the rest of the book portrays truth in symbolic ways]: Satan in a symbolic manner, the churches in a symbolic manner, the antichrist in a symbolic manner, the false prophet in a symbolic manner.

Re12:3 And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great, fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads.

Re12:9 So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Re 1:12 Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands,

Re l:20 The mystery of the seven stars which you saw in My right hand, and the seven golden lampstands: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands which you saw are the seven churches.

Re13:1 Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name.

Re13:11 Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon.

Re16:13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

    (7) But wouldn’t this make the prophet a part of his own prophecy? This is one of the unique aspects of apocalyptic and some prophetic sections of the Bible. God often incorporates the experience of the prophet into a revelation of the prophecy.

    (a) Here God is revealing truth through John both by the words that he writes and also by the drama that he lives. This happens in other places throughout the book where God uses John to reveal truth.

Re5:3 And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it. 4 So I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open and read the scroll, or to look at it. 5 But one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.”

Re7:13 Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, “Who are these arrayed in white robes, and where did they come from?” 14 And I said to him, “Sir, you know.” So he said to me, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

    (b) Other prophets are used to dramatize their prophecies.

Je l8:3 Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something at the wheel. 4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make. 5 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

Je13: 1 Thus the Lord said to me: “Go and get yourself a linen sash, and put it around your waist, but do not put it in water.”

Je13:6 it came to pass after many days that the Lord said to me, “Arise, go to the Euphrates, and take from there the sash which I commanded you to hide there.” 7 Then I went to the Euphrates and dug, and I took the sash from the place where I had hidden it; and there was the sash, ruined. It was profitable for nothing.

Eze 24:18 So I spoke to the people in the morning, and at evening my wife died; and the next morning I did as I was commanded. 19 And the people said to me, “Will you not tell us what these things signify to us, that you behave so?”

    d. Argument from Re 3:10.

    i. Re 3:l0 Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.

ii. As mentioned under the previous point, the admonitions from Christ to these churches are timeless and have application to all churches as long as churches are on the earth.

iii. Re 3:10 states the reason that God will be sending tribulation on the earth, “to test those who dwell on the earth.” A study of the term “those who dwell on the earth” reveals that the “earth dwellers” are mentioned 12 times in the following verses: 3:10; 6:10; 11:10; 12:12; 13:8,12,14; 14:6; 17:8. It is a term of derision for those whose names are not written in the book of life and who are always following the wrong people, worshiping the wrong things, cheering about the wrong things and placing their trust in the wrong things.

Re 6:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?”

Re 11.10 And those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them, make merry, and send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth.

Re l2:12 Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.”

Re13:8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Re 13:12 And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

Re13:14 And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived.

Re14: 6 Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people

Re17:8 The beast that you saw was, and is not, and will ascend out of the bottomless pit and go to perdition. And those who dwell on the earth will marvel, whose names are not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

iv. The purpose of the tribulation is stated as a period of pressure to try or test or put pressure on “those who dwell on the earth”. That period of pressure is designed to expose the foolishness of trusting anything but God. The earth dwellers will throw their idols to the bats and rocks but will still curse God and try to hide from Him who sits on the throne. God will use this period to bring terror to those who caused terror to His people. During this time multitudes will get saved Re 7 :9-17 by “‘washing their robes in the blood of the Lamb.

    v. The tribulation is not designed for the church, but for the earth dwellers and to bring many to salvation. The church will be kept “”from the hour of trial which shall come upon the earth to test those who dwell on the earth.”

    3. The Ignorance Argument.

Paul thought that he would be raptured.

1 Th 4:15-17 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.

    4. Dispensational Truth That Reveals the Church is Removed Before the Tribulation Period Begins

The next phase of God’s program is the tribulation period. The primary question is whether the church will be removed from the world before, during or after the tribulation. The emphasis of this study will be to look at the biblical data to determine whether the characteristics of the people of God who are alive during the tribulation period match all the characteristics of the NT church. If one or more of those elements does not match the DNA of the NT church, then there is good reason to believe that the church is gone. The fact that some of the elements of the church might remain true for the tribulation saints, is not a proof that the church is on earth during the tribulation.

    a. Argument from the 144,000.

    i. The 144,000 mentioned in both Rev 7 and 14 is a group that is clearly “of God”, clearly “operating during the tribulation”, clearly “a group that has “special favor” with God, and a group composed completely of Jews. There are 12,000 from each of the 12 tribes of Israel.

Re7:3 saying, “Do not harm the earth, the sea, or the trees till we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.” 4 And I heard the number of those who were sealed. One hundred and forty-four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel were sealed: sof the tribe of Judah twelve thousand were sealed; of the tribe of Reuben twelve thousand were sealed; of the tribe of Gad twelve thousand were sealed

ii. This group has no counterpart in the church age. There were Jews in the church but they are clearly not given special status of any kind.

Ga3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

1 Col2:13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body- whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free-and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.

Ro l:12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.

Ro3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law. 29Or is He the God of the Jews only? Is He not also the God of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also,

iii. Any time we see a listing of people in the various churches, it is always an integrated list containing Jews and Gentiles, men and women, low and high.

Ro16:3 Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus, 4who risked their own necks for my life, to whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles. 5Likewise greet the church that is in their house. Greet my beloved Epaenetus, who is the firstfruits of Achaia to Christ.

Rol6:7 Greet Andronicus and Junia, my countrymen and my fellow prisoners, who are of note among the apostles, who also were in Christ before me. 8Greet Amplias, my beloved in the Lord. 9Greet Urbanus, our fellow worker in Christ, and Stachys, my beloved. l0Greet Apelles, approved in Christ. Greet those who are of the household of Aristobulus. 11Greet Herodion, my countryman. Greet those who are of the household of Narcissus who are in the Lord.

iv. The twelve apostles are all Jews and are considered a group, however they were called before the Church began and they are considered the foundation of the NT church. After the church began, there is never an emphasis on a special grouping of large numbers of Jewish men who are specially selected to follow Christ having a special mark on them who are called virgins.

Re14:1 Then I looked, and behold, a Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His Father’s name written on their foreheads.2 And I heard a voice from heaven, like the voice of many waters, and like the voice of loud thunder. And I heard the sound of harpists playing their harps. 3They sang as it were a new song before the throne, before the four living creatures, and the elders; 4and no one could learn that song except the hundred and forty-four thousand who were redeemed from the earth.

    v. A special emphasis is placed on the fact that they seemingly have not married or had relations with women. Although this is true of Paul, it is not the norm for the church age and such celibacy has led to many perversions among those that have attempted such an experiment. This group is clearly sovereignly chosen, called, preserved in their purity, selected by God for their purpose but are clearly not part of the NT church.

Rel4:4 These are the ones who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These were redeemed from among men, being firstfruits to God and to the Lamb. sAnd in their mouth was found no deceit, for they are without fault before the throne of God.

    b. Argument from the two witnesses

    i. During the tribulation period, Jerusalem and the temple mount becomes a central focus of attention. This is clearly a return to a focus on the nation of Israel and their temple and holy city. After the early chapters of Acts, the focus of the church is to the ends of the earth. Even when Paul says to the Jew first and also to “the Greek,” he is writing to the church at Rome. If the church is still the pillar and ground of the truth and God’s program for evangelism in the world, why is the focus returning to the temple and Jerusalem?

Re l1:1 Then I was given a reed like a measuring rod. And the angel stood, saying, “Rise and measure the temple of God, the altar, and those who worship there. 2But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months.

Re11:5 And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

Re ll:13 In the same hour there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell. In the earthquake seven thousand people were killed, and the rest were afraid and gave glory to the God of heaven.

ii. After the founding of the church in Acts 2, references to Gentiles are almost always positive or at least treated with some dignity.

Ro ll:13 For I speak to you Gentiles; inasmuch as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry,

Ro15:l6 That I might be a minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering of the Gentiles might be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

Pp3:3 For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh,

    (1) Under the Law, Gentiles are considered unclean and are to be avoided.

1 Sa 17:36 your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God.”

    (2) It is most often the Jews that Paul denigrates because of their opposition to the gospel.

1 Th2:14 For you, brethren, became imitators of the churches of God which are in Judea in Christ Jesus. For you also suffered the same things from your own countrymen, just as they did from the Judeans, 15Who killed both the Lord Jesus and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they do not please God and are contrary to all men, 16 forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they may be saved, so as always to fill up the measure of their sins; but wrath has come upon them to the uttermost.

Pp3:2 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the mutilation!

    (3) However in Re 6-19, we see a decidedly pro-Jewish point of view which is foreign during the church age but common to Israel.

Rev11:2 But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months.

iii. After the close of the apostolic age, the use of direct power by God’s servants as a means of evangelism and resisting the enemies of God was replaced by love and truth and patience during persecution. The gospel of Christ during the church age has gone forth without calling down fire from heaven to kill the enemies of the gospel. Jesus’ words to the church are to love our enemies. Be faithful unto death. But never does the church receive authority to kill their enemies. This is not the church operating in Re 11.

Re ll:3 And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.”

Re 11:5 And if anyone wants to harm them, fire proceeds from their mouth and devours their enemies. And if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this manner. 6These have power to shut heaven, so that no rain falls in the days of their prophecy; and they have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to strike the earth with all plagues, as often as they desire.

iv. The designation of the two witnesses as the two olive trees and two lamp stands standing before God would recall to any Bible scholar’s mind the prophecies of Zechariah 4 where the same figures are used for the high priest and the ruler of Judah obtaining power from God to rebuild the temple.

These symbols used together of two Jewish men are clearly related to Israel and not to the church.

Re11:4 These are the two olive trees and the two lamp stands standing before the God of the earth.

Zec 4:9 “The hands of Zerubbabel Have laid the foundation of this temple; His hands shall also finish it. Then you will know That the Lord of hosts has sent Me to you.

    e. Argument from the familiar formula given 8 times in the book of Revelation encouraging those who have ears, let them hear…

    i. Seven times this formula is given in Re 1-3 as follows:

Re2:7,11,17,29 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

Re3:6.13.22 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

ii. It is given one other time in the and that is during the chapters detailing the tribulation period. Notice the distinct shift of emphasis.

Re13:9 If anyone has an ear, let him hear.

iii. All scripture is inspired. This change is not an accident or oversight. Why this distinct change? The simple answer is because the church has been removed and He is no longer addressing the church as He was in chapters 1 thru 3.

    d. Argument from those who are the focus of Satan’s attacks.

    i. In Rev 1l-3 Satan is see attacking the church by using Jews to bring the persecution.

Re2:13 “I know where you are living, where Satan’s throne is. Yet you are holding fast to my name, and you did not deny your faith in me even in the days of Antipas my witness, my faithful one, who was killed among you, where Satan lives.

Re2:9 “I know your affliction and your poverty, even though you are rich. I know the slander on the part of those who say that they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. 10 Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Beware, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison so that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have affliction. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

ii. In Re12, when Satan is angry, His primary target is the nation of Israel not the church as in Rev l-3.

Re12:13 So when the dragon saw that he had been thrown down to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child. 14But the woman was given the two wings of the great eagle, so that she could fly from the serpent into the wilderness, to her place where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time.

You King James Only people have such a knack for twisting scripture. The Thessalonians though the people who were dead would miss the rapture. In Paul’s explanation he didn’t say the tribulation has not come and then explains the timeline of events to the rapture.

    1 Thessalonians 4:13 – 18 KJV
13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

By the way to think I almost started supporting you until I saw a video of how you totally miss represented the text of the KJV vs The newer Bibles like the NASB. You, Peter Ruckman and Sam Gipp are doing a real disservice to the Body of Christ. I can’t call you a brother or trust you what you say any longer. Edward

    Dear Kent,

I also find it amazing that so many believed the world would end because of the Mayan calendar, when we don’t have any other fulfilled prophecy from their culture – yet the Bible stands with hundreds of fulfilled prophesies (and more to come!). Do you think its because the Mayans don’t ask them to repent?

Though you are man I truly admire, I cannot agree with any other doctrine that a pre-GREAT tribulation one. Simply being because the bottom line is that’s a judgement period where seven vials are poured out on the world. In God’s Word He never left His people (who hadn’t backslidden) to be caught up when he was pouring out judgement – think about Noah and the flood, or Lot and Sodom.

As we know, Christ compared the last days to the days of Noah – a time where judgement would come, but God’s people would be caught up out of it by the ark of Christ. I agree that there will be tribulation before the rapture, as there has been for the past 2000 years, and this will escalate in the West before the rapture. However, the inference of scripture is that the revelation of the man of sin is linked to the removal of the Holy Spirit (He who lets) and that the millions of born again people currently around the world will not be part of the great falling away (great apostasy) – this global apostasy will be that all will turn from their religions to worship of the Antichrist.

The Bible cannot be destroyed and will remain on this earth to allow people to have faith by the power of the Word (Romans 10), but it is clear there will be no great presence of Christians or revival during the Great Tribulation.

Either way, I will join you in labouring to win souls while the time is short and we still have liberty to do so – either because we have been removed before judgement or because the appearance of the Antichrist and increased tribulation starts to tie our hands.

    God bless

Congratulations, Brother Hovind, for discovering the truth about the rapture not being before the tribulation. You are now excluded from membership in most churches and Christian organizations in the world. Notice that a belief in the imminent return of Christ is excluded by your new understanding. I have been in this excluded condition for a number of years, and at times it has been lonely. There are post-trib churches, but they usually have another doctrine which also excludes a person. I live in a city where I cannot join any church, as far as I can determine.

  47. Dario December 25, 2012 10:38 pm Reply

Hello Dr. Hovind. Honestly bro.. it’s been an absolute honor learning from you. You are a rare breed. I support you and thank God there’s still people like you around. Gives me hope !!! That said, I did not like this movie at all. It made honest God-loving, Bible-believing Christian’s like Ray Comfort, Kirk Cameron, even myself look like fools. Many of us born-again Christian’s have studied the Scriptures and believe in a pre-tribulation rapture, but according to your friend Steve Anderson we are liars and deceivers. I know you don’t determine truth on whether someone’s nice or mean, but that guy is down right arrogant and obnoxious. God forgive me if I have sinned in saying that and I’m not questioning anyone’s salvation, but I’m afraid that your persecution has clouded your judgment. Why put yourself in this movie if you just recently adopted this theory and Bible prophecy is not your specialty? Why not wait and study a doctrine you have struggled with more? Why insult so many honest brethren? I feel bad for Ray Comfort. He is made to look like a a greasy televangelist being associated with Benny Hinn. Steve Anderson wants to come across wiser than he is, I think. Ray and Kirk and regular Bible believing folk don’t deserve what they get in this film.

BTW, I’ll leave you with a couple of thoughts: Regarding the rapture the Bible says we should comfort one another with these words (1 Thessalonians 4:18) but I CANNOT find comfort if I have to go through the tribulation first in order to get to the rapture. So something’s wrong here if people are telling us it’s comforting. It’s not comforting at all. So either the Bible’s wrong or we’re not going throuigh the tribulation period as Christians – we’ll be raptured ahead of time. So that’s a problem right there. Now here’s a second point. If the rapture happens after the Tribulation then who populated the Millenium? That’s a thousand year time span. The Saints have no one to reign over. Jesus has no one to reign over. And there’s nobody to re-populate the earth — no humans. Who’s going to be there during this time? We’re not coming back to an empty earth. So these particular theories can’t be correct because it does not produce child bearing Christian humans who can re-populate the earth during the millenium. You can throw all the twisted Scripture you want to at me telling me this is what this mean and this is what that means, but the truth of the matter is if there is not a smooth transition from age to age then it’s not correct. It can’t be correct. That’s one of the reason I believe the pre-tribulation rapture is the correct theory because it takes us from age to age to age seemlessy and without breaking the action as far as that’s concerned. You know, there are no hiccups whatsoever. But if you wanna continue to believe the 7th trump or whatever else you believe, the post tribulation rapture, then you’re fine to do so, but don’t make it a salvation issue, don’t tell me I’m not preaching the Gospel, don’t tell me I need to repent, don’t tell me that I’m a false teacher or a false prophet, or liar, or whatever the case may be, because it’s not a salvation issue and as far as I’m concerned it’s been proven, based upon the Bible, the pre-tribulation rapture is the real rapture theory and it should be taken as such. But, like I said if you wanna believe the other you’re more than welcome to. If you wanna convince of your particular viewpoint you’re more than welcome as well. But don’t call us snake handlers, or greasy televangelists. We’re just normal, biblical, Christians.

Thank you and I still love you and admire you Kent. You are one of the heroes in the faith. I value your work immensely. May the Lord give you His wisdom in all things and sorry if I come across rude, but i care for you. That’s my motive, that’s all. God bless you and everyone else reading..

Hi brother Kent – keep up your spirits, we are all rooting for you on the outside! We are spreading your seminars like wildfire in Africa! Recently something great happened. I was contacted via my site by a pastor in Eastern DRC (relatively close to Mokele Mbembe then!) who wants me to go up there to preach/teach in DRC/Rwanda/Burundi. I can’t do that, I’m a working man, but instead I sent him videos I’ve gathered. I sent the Creation Seminars, but of course they don’t all speak English there; so I looked on Youtube and found the first 4 seminars in French! I got them, put them on a DVD and posted them to him in Rwanda. Shortly after that, the videos on Youtube disappeared. So I got them at just the right moment. Seeing how people in Central Africa have virtually no internet access, let alone being able to download videos, this has the potential to go BIG and get many saved. The Creation Seminars are like pure gold as it is, but now they have the potential to spread 4 of them in French, in countries blighted by wars and communism (ie also atheism, evolution). Hoping they’ll arrive with the post though…

As for the tribs, I am confused – I am partial to pre-trib, also Chuck Missler said in his course “learn the Bible in 24 hours” that the story of the Scottish girl was untrue. I find in people’s writings that they use the same scriptures to justify pre-trib and post-trib, so honestly I am not sure. Still open to that… though our country’s president Jacob Zuma said the ANC will rule till Jesus comes, so hopefully either coming will be VERY soon!

Anyway, to those who visit my site, enjoy – I preach, I teach, I rebuke and I expose false churches – especially churches here in South Africa, which is dogged by immense prosperity-gospel, works-based-salvation and compromising influences such as mixing Christianity with witchcraft and divination.

Thank you so much for this great discussion!!! I was thinking about post-trib rupture for a long time…I was born in Soviet Union and persecution of believers – it was a normal daily routine in that country. I don’t think that God loves Russian or African christian less than others… why He lets them suffer??? And I know why – because when we suffer , we love Jesus much more…we need His presence in every moment of our life… and I think that for this very reason God is going to let today’s church to be persecuted, just to get ready for departure! But we are not going to be alone to face tribulation, as we were not alone in the Soviet Union – He will be with us!
God bless you , brother Hovind! We’ll be keep praying for you!

Just one quick question – do you think that the 3rt temple will be physically build in the Jerusalem before or during the tribulation? I do not believe, that this idea supported by New Testament.

At the end of Matthew 24, Scripture clearly describes a rapture occuring “at the end of the Tribulation” when Heaven is ALREADY opened and Jesus Christ is visable in the sky.

At the same time though Revelation 19 describes the Bride of Christ already being in Heaven BEFORE the heavens open.

The Matthew 24 rapture has people enduring the entire Tribulation BEFORE being raptured. The bride has promises to avoid the wrath of God.

    The solution?

There’s more than one rapture during the end times.

In my book, Roadmap Through Revelation, I lay out the three raptures as well as the four accounts of the Second Advent that are all given in the book of Revelation. You can find it on Amazon, take a look.

And also about the tribulation, how would one keep themselves from being cowardly at that point in time?

I think about the end alot, Pre trib rapture has never sat right in my heart, it just seems to easy, but I’m not going to lie, the tribulation scares me.

Thanks yous, Hope all is well. God bless you.

I am just amazed that you of all people would have fallen for the Catholic LIE that the rapture was an invention of the 1800′s by a Scottish mystic and Darby. That is a flat out lie.

It is also a flat out LIE that it was created by a Jesuit earlier than that.

The TRUTH is is was always taught up to the creation of the Catholic Church who called the rapture a lie and taught against it way back in 431 AD. Its funny they denounced the Rapture back then, than again in 1516 and again in 1824, all before Darby.

Please do not believe the Catholic lies… They teach we go through the Trib, the BIBLE says we do not.

Okay I am a nobody, just a house wife and mother of 3 young boys under 5, and saved by grace.
I have been in all kinds of baptist churches my whole life and I have trusted them. I just recentlyrecieved the separate baptism of Holy Spirit. As reffered by John the Baptist. The bible plainly says it. But I am being persecuted by brethren and they keep forcing me to read all kinds of phamplets and books all mens twist and take on the bible. The Holy Spirit within me won’t even let me steer away from the word of God. It’s painful to believe maybe just maybe Satan infatrated our evanglism schools and bible colleges and said something like this….I’ll let those young eagar men be pastors and teachers but I’ll take their Power in Christ away….let them earn degrees of false doctrine to share with all believers……
    Be like Jesus
    ~love
~heal the sick n broken hearted
    ~share the gospel
many of Jesus examples of Jesus does not reflect our church today. My parents went to seminary, they cannot argue without quoting other men or books, I just use the word of God. Wisdom asked from Him as He promises to give. You have to really throw out all doctrines and re read with inviting the Holy Spirit. I still believe he is coming to save his bride from the heat but yes we are getting persecuted everyday. Noah, Lot, Daniel, God delivers. But I do believe we have to come together in unity as the church and shine! Denominations in Christ loving one another that we may be known by our brotherly love. The world has to know that the light of God is gone. When it is gone. The world has yet to see the light and love. All we do is bicker and choose sides. Love covers an abundance of sins and truly He is coming soon. Jesus said a little while.

I have watched you for many years, and been blessed by your ministry Dr Hovind. However I am saddened that you have got in with Steven Anderson, he appears as a mean spirited pharisical, nasty bit of work.

I have watched the video and to be honest, the only thing it has done is convinced me further of the evidence, of pre-trib rapture.

I wish you all the best,

Yay! Some are more noble like the Bereans, searching the scripture. In Thessalonians Paul quashed the rumor that Christ was coming “any minute now”, saying the Antichrist would be revealed first. No prophecy is of private interpretation. Paul admonished believers in I Corinthians 14 to keep interpretations of God’s message from an unknown tongue to ONE interpretation, in the context of “God is not the author of confusion”. Look it up: “Let ONE interpret”, not have dozens to choose from.

Glad to see that the MOST EFFECTIVE spokesman in the world today for Creation and advocates the KJB as the ONE interpretation (what else could it be?) now sees the truth about the Tribulation.

Trumpets = Tribulation, people, Vials = Wrath.

    Dear Dr. Hovind,
I just wanted to tell you about a video that Chuck Missler and a medical doctor did on God tv called Alien invasion I think. The doctor said he had spoken to these psychic channelors and they say , this is going to sound crazy, but they say they have been recieving messages from these aliens, which are basically the fallen angels. They said that these aliens are telling them they seeded earth, and that we have messed things up so bad that they are going to have to come back and create a one world gov. , one world religion, and one world monetary system. As the doctor stated ” sound familiar?”, he said they are also telling these psychic channelors that some people will not be willing to accept these changes and that they are going to have to sit is out on the mother ship. Again ” sound familiar?”. Chuck Missler and this M.D. seem to think that these are the fallen angels and the enemy satan is already making an excuse to explain the rapture. I know this is not the road to go down and it is more important to focus on Christ Jesus and the gospel, but this could be an indication that God (YAHWEH) is going to remove His people before the really bad things start to happen. My Mom is reading a commentary about the book of Enoch and she said the author showed some pretty good evidence that there will be a rapture. YESHUA did tell us to pray daily that we be found worthy to escape the things coming on the earth. I do not know and am pretty confused about the issue. I have’nt really given the post tri rapture or mid trib rapture any study and don’t really know much about what it really says. But , God did remove Noah to safety, and He took Lot by the hand to remove him from danger. Just a thought and hoping the rapture is pre trib although the truth is more important.

First of all Mr. Hovind, thank you for your insight and your videos and for showing many the love of god. I have to disagree with you on your new attitude about the tribulation, however. We should, in no way, abandon our faith if you are right, but here in the chapter you lead me to I have an argument for you.
    Luke 21:27-28
And then shall they see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
    Luke 21:36
Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass and stand before the Son of Man.

Why would he tell us to pray to be worthy to escape things to come if he had no plans to allow us to escape the things to come?

    Dear Kent,
I can not express the joy of hearing you humbled yourself, thus the Lord revealed to you the anti-Christ doctrine of the pre-trib rapture.
And so I hope and pray we all glorify him further by a continuous knowing. And that knowing is, we can know nothing without him. And with great humility and relentless seeking he will show us his great and boundless mercies as he promised he would. And I know you suffered in your heart when he revealed to you this truth. And you are blessed for it.
And so knowing you have come thus far, I would present to you another lie the serpent has deceived the world with. But I leave it to you to seek it out, and it is once again up to you to accept it. And what It is, is said by our blessed brother Jeremiah direct from the Lord himself in chapter 10
2 Thus saith the Lord, “Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.

3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.

4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

Here I will ask a simple question. What does verse 3 & 4 sound like it’s describing, that which the lord tell us not to learn to do it? It is a difficult one to accept for many, yet I am certain you will seek it out and turn from it. Your declaration declare you will when you see it as you have don’t here. And the hint here is, you’ve carried this lies for longer than 38yrs. And you of course know we must obey because the lord himself says, “learn it not”.

So I leave you with some more wood to put on the holy fire. To light up ever brighter the darkness, that it will flee further from you each day, as it already truly does. And I pray each day we may all seek and find his face and be that holy light to everyone in his blessed name that they may find his glory in his endless mercies…

    peace love and his blessings…timothy

John MacArthur has a good video on youtube about the rapture. He also has a lot of good free audio resources on the rapture where he gets into it in detail. I agree with John MacArthur on this one. Hope your doing well Kent and look forward to seeing you get out of jail to continue teaching and debating. :-)

I just started watching your videos a couple of weeks ago. I found most of your opinions/theories/facts to make perfect sense. There were only a couple things that you mentioned that I didn’t particularly agree with. One of them was your pre-trib stance. But I hardly find anyone to agree with me on that topic anyways! I was raised believing in pre-trib and watched all those end-times movies at a very early age. It was easly to believe since everyone around me believed it, my denomination believed it, and my mom drilled it into my head. It wasn’t until I went to Bible college and gathered all the evidence together that I leaned towards my current beliefs. I also believe it’s such a downfall to believers and unbelievers alike. I’m pretty sure most Americans know about the end times, the rapture, etc. When the tribulation comes, will people believe it? Everyone will be looking for a rapture. Will we believe that there is an anti-christ if there is no rapture?

Writing from WA…We continue to be thankful for the critical information. It is a VERY informative film and we believe God’s infallible word.

Wishing the extras from ASU were on the DVD (very well produced), but we enjoyed going to Pastor Anderson’s You Tube page to see them. Fearless, indeed! We also really appreciate his extensive archived sermons (audio on church website- http://www.faithfulwordbaptist.org and video on his church YouTube page). Really good & really needed…They have helped us and at least another soldier hubby knew out in the desert.

The messages God has given you and Pastor Anderson continue to challenge us to seek to reach lost souls with the truth of the gospel. God uses the wealth of scriptures within them to build our faith. They’re really encouraging.

God is keeping X busy compiling scriptures and writing…He even provided him with a large paper clip from seemingly nowhere!

His dad is now back. We found out that God extended his time for a VERY good reason. Though we so badly wanted to share the holidays with him, what we have received from that time apart is critical to us right now.

Ultimately, God strengthened us all and promoted him in his job as a result. We firmly believe that God is also doing MUCH good for you and His timing continues to be perfect.

“And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD [is] a God of judgment: blessed [are] all they that wait for him.”(Isaiah 30:18)

“For the vision [is] yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”(Hab 2:3)

    THE RAPTURE ACCORDING TO SCRIPTURE
    By John Henry

    January 14, 2013

    INTRODUCTION

In this paper we hope to make an air tight Scriptural case for the catching up of all believers of the Church Age “to meet the Lord in the air” before the 7 year great Tribulation. We will examine the words of the Lord Jesus Christ, the apostles Paul and John, as well as the Old Testament prophets to prove our case.

It is true that the word Rapture is not in our English Bible, nor in the original Greek. The Greek word translated “caught up” is “HARPAZO” in Greek. In the New Testament it is variously translated “take by force,” “pulling,” “pluck,” “catcheth,” “catcheth away,” “caught away” and “caught up.” Our word rapture comes from the Latin word RAPTURA which means “catch away” or “carry off.” Latin was the second major language of the New Testament after the original Greek. It was translated very early by the true church, at that time called the Waldenses, and remained in use for centuries.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17: “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be CAUGHT UP [harpazo] together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”

The Doctrine of the Pre-Tribulation Rapture is often represented as a new teaching. However, it is as old as the original manuscripts of the Bible. It is taught in type in Genesis with Enoch (Gen. 5:21: Heb. 11:5), Noah (Gen. 6:8-8:19; 1 Pet. 3:20) and Lot (2 Pet. 2:7-8) being pictures of pre-judgment deliverance of the saved.

Ephraem of Nisibis or Ephraem the Syrian (AD 306-373) clearly taught that believers will be Raptured to Heaven before the Tribulation. He was from Nisibis on the eastern edge of the Roman Empire (about 100 miles NW of Nineveh). Ephraem was a well-known and prolific Syrian writer and witness to early Christianity. In Ephraem’s sermon called, “On the Last Times, the Anti-christ, and the End of the World” he says, “For all the saints and elect of God are gathered, prior to the Tribulation that is to come, and are taken to the Lord lest they see the confusion that is to overwhelm the world because of our sins.” (English translation of the Latin text [Christiania, 1890, pp. 208-20] provided by Cameron Rhoades, Latin instructor at Tyndale Theological Seminary, Ft. Worth, TX.)

Baptist Pastor, Morgan Edwards (1722-1795) also taught the pre-trib Rapture. Edwards was teaching the Rapture 80 years before Margaret McDonald was born. McDonald is often falsely credited with originating this Bible doctrine. Edwards understood and taught Paul’s doctrine of eschatology, plus Daniel and Revelation. Morgan Edwards taught that history would be consummated in 7000 years; the Antichrist would be a future individual; that the 1260 days were literal days; the catching away of the church prior to the Tribulation and the rise of an evil antichrist. (Condensed from: Rev. Morgan Edwards Taught a Pre-Tribulation Rapture in the 1740s! by Gary Stearman)

John the Baptist was the friend of the Bridegroom who is Jesus Christ (John 3:29; cf. Eph. 5:23-26; Rev.19:7-9 ). John was the last Old Testament prophet (Matt. 11:13; Luke 16:16) As the last prophet of the Dispensation of Law, John passed the mantle of responsibility for the care of the Word of God and winning souls to the church. Likewise, at the end of the Dispensation of Grace this responsibility will revert back to Israel to fulfill the last week (7 years) of Daniel’s prophecy of 70 Weeks when the Bride of Christ is removed from the earth at the rapture.

In Hebrews 11 there are no New Testament saints referred to at all, but it mentions 17 Old Testament saints by name and alludes to at least 7 more.

Hebrews 11:39-40: “And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, RECEIVED NOT THE PROMISE: GOD HAVING PROVIDED SOME BETTER THING FOR US, that they without us should not be made perfect.”

Likewise, the Prophet Daniel, an Old Testament saint, will not be resurrected until after the Tribulation.

Daniel 12:11-13: “And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up [this occurs at the mid point of the Tribulation], there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days. But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou [Daniel] shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.” (cf. Matt. 24:15-21)

There are two differences between the Church Age believers, and the Old Testament / Tribulation are:

    1. The Bride is resurrected / raptured first, then the friends of the Bridegroom are resurrected: “… God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.” (Heb. 11:40)
    2. Church Age believers do not know the day of Christ’s return, but the Tribulation saints will know (Dan. 9:27; Rev. 11:2-3, 12:6, 13:5).

    MATTHEW 24:36-44 & LUKE 17:26-30, 34-37

The Lord Jesus Christ was asked by His disciples while they were on the Mount of Olives in Matthew 24, “… what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” (v.3) The Lord answered by giving several signs that would be prevalent in the last days just before, during and immediately after the 7 year Tribulation. Then in verses 32 to 34 He reverts back to the years prior to the Tribulation to the re-establishment of the Nation of Israel, the “fig tree” (Hos. 9:10), which occurred on May 14, 1948, and ends with these words, “Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.” (v. 34) And after this He gave a description of the Rapture and told them that we cannot know when He will return in these words:

Matthew 24:36-44: “But OF THAT DAY AND HOUR KNOWETH NO MAN, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. 37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39 And KNEW NOT UNTIL THE FLOOD CAME, AND TOOK THEM ALL AWAY; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. 43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch THE THIEF would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. 44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”

At this point it is important to note that those of our Church Age cannot know the day, times or seasons that the Lord will return or when He will restore Israel. The apostles asked the Lord Jesus just when He would do that as He was about to ascend back to heaven. They asked Him, “Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?” (Acts 1:6) To this the Lord answered, “It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.” (Acts 1:7) After the Lord raptures the believers of this Age He will call save and seal 144,000 Jews from the 12 tribes of Israel to take up the responsibility of keeping the Word of God, and winning souls. These and those that they win to Christ will “do exploits” and “instruct many” during the Tribulation (Daniel 11:32-33). In a very limited sense this is a restoration of the kingdom, but the ultimate fulfillment will be when Jesus comes again with the saints to rule the World for 1,000 years (Jude 14-15; Rev. 19:11-15) We of this Age can know neither the time of the Lord’s coming for us, nor the time of the restoration of the Kingdom. But not so for the Tribulation saints. They will know when Christ will return exactly 2,520 days (7 years) after Antichrist is revealed (Dan. 9:27; Rev. 11:2-3, 12:6, 13:5). However, some misunderstand Matthew 24:22 which speaks of the “great tribulation” (Matt. 22:21) saying, “And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.” This is not a shortening of the 2,520 days which is already fixed, but is rather a shortening of the daylight hours of some of the days during that period, because of the extreme heat of the daylight hours.

Isaiah 30:26: “Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound.”

A brief word about “the thief” in Matthew 24:43 above. Remember that our word Rapture comes from the Latin “RAPTURA” which means “catch away” or “carry off.” RAPTURA is derived from RAPTOR which means “a thief.” Here in the Lord Jesus’ Rapture passage in verse 43 it is interesting that He uses the word “thief” and likewise again in Revelation 3:3 He uses it saying, “… I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.” Unbelievers need to receive Christ, before they die and go to hell or the Lord comes for His own; and it behooves believers to ALWAYS be ready by serving the Lord, because when He comes “… we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ …” (2 Cor. 5:10; cf. 1 Cor. 3:11-15) It is said of the Tribulation, dubbed “the day of the Lord” by many Old Testament prophets, and the apostles Peter and Paul, that it will also “come as a thief” (1 Thess. 5:2; 2 Pet. 3:10). Therefore, we should all be ready for that day.

Luke 17:26-30, 34-36: “And AS IT WAS IN THE DAYS OF NOE, SO SHALL IT BE ALSO IN THE DAYS OF THE SON OF MAN. 27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and DESTROYED THEM ALL. 28 Likewise also AS IT WAS IN THE DAYS OF LOT; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; 29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and DESTROYED THEM ALL. 30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. … 34 I tell you, in that NIGHT there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. 35 Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 36 Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.”

In these passages Noah and Lot are types or pictures of believers who will one day be taken to Heaven without dying. Both were taken before God’s judgment and wrath fell. People were going about their lives in a sin and business as usual manner. It will be the same at the Rapture! During the Tribulation it will be anything but business as usual!

2 Peter 2:4-9: “For if God … SPARED NOT THE OLD WORLD, but SAVED NOAH THE EIGHTH PERSON, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; 6 And TURNING THE CITIES OF SODOM AND GOMORRHA INTO ASHES CONDEMNED THEM WITH AN OVERTHROW, MAKING THEM AN ENSAMPLE unto those that after should live ungodly; 7 And DELIVERED JUST LOT, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: 8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;) 9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished.”

The Lord Jesus also spoke of the Rapture in John 14:

John 14:1-4: “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. 4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.”

Directly after these words the Lord Jesus says, “… I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (v. 6) Christ Jesus is the only way to be saved and to go to the Father in Heaven. The apostles to whom the Lord was speaking have been dead for 2,000 years and only their spirits are now in Heaven, but one day Jesus will come again to raise their bodies also, and all believers who are alive when He comes for them will also be raised up with them in what is called the Rapture. The Apostle Paul gives us details of the event:

    1 THESSALONIANS 4:13 – 5:11

1 Thessalonians 4:13-5:11: “But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and THE DEAD IN CHRIST SHALL RISE FIRST: 17 THEN WE WHICH ARE ALIVE AND REMAIN SHALL BE CAUGHT UP TOGETHER WITH THEM IN THE CLOUDS, TO MEET THE LORD IN THE AIR: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words. 1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. 2 For yourselves know perfectly that THE DAY OF THE LORD so cometh as a thief in the night. 3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. 4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that THAT DAY should overtake you as a thief. 5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: WE ARE NOT OF THE NIGHT, NOR OF DARKNESS. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. 7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. 8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. 9 FOR GOD HATH NOT APPOINTED US TO WRATH, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. 11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.”

The word “prevent” above in verse 15 is defined as, “To go before; to precede” (Webster’s 1828 Dictionary & American Heritage Dictionary). Therefore, we understand that living believers will not go before those who have died, but will rather “be caught up together with them … to meet the Lord in the air.”

Observe that the Rapture is when “the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air” (1 Thess 4:16-17). It is not as Post Tribulation advocates teach using Matthew 24:31 as a proof text to base their theory. There it says that the Lord Jesus “shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” This is not a rapture of living saints from the earth, but rather, a gathering together of departed “elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other” (Matt. 24:31). This is rather the same event as described by Jude and John:

Jude 14-15: “And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”

Revelation 19:11, 14: “And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. … And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.”

There are two distinctly different kinds of trumpet calls in the Bible: 1) the call to worship (Ex. 19:13; Lev. 25:9; et. al.) and 2) the call to war (Josh. 6:5; Neh. 4:18-20; et. al.):

Numbers 10:7-10: “But when the congregation is to be gathered together, ye shall blow, but ye shall not sound an alarm. 8 And the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow with the trumpets; and they shall be to you for an ordinance for ever throughout your generations. 9 And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an alarm with the trumpets; and ye shall be remembered before the LORD your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies. 10 Also in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a memorial before your God: I am the LORD your God.”

Note that Paul (1 Thess 5:1) reiterates what Jesus said in Matthew 24:36 about no man knowing the “day and hour” of His return to catch up all the believers of this Age of Grace to meet the Lord in the air. Only Paul uses the term “the times and the seasons” and says that we “know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night” (1 Thess. 5:1-2). The Lord and Paul both tell us that we cannot know the day, hour, times or seasons of His return, but Jesus did tell us the “generation” (Matt. 24:32-34) which is sometime within 70 to 120 years after 1948 when Israel became a nation again (Ps. 90:10; Gen. 6:3). Note too the phrase, “the day of the Lord” which indicates the time also called, “Great Tribulation” (Matt. 24:21; Rev. 2:22, 7:14). The phrase “the day of the Lord” is also used by Peter and 9 Old Testament prophets. The prophets Isaiah, Amos, Joel and Zephaniah speak of the Tribulation in the same terms as Paul as a day of “darkness” and “wrath.”

Zephaniah 1:14-17: “The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of THE DAY OF THE LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly. 15 THAT DAY is A DAY OF WRATH, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of DARKNESS and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick DARKNESS, 16 A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers. 17 And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung.”

Joel 2:1-2: “Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for THE DAY OF THE LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand; A day of DARKNESS and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick DARKNESS, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations.”

Amos 5:18, 20: “Woe unto you that desire THE DAY OF THE LORD! to what end is it for you? THE DAY OF THE LORD is DARKNESS, and not light. … Shall not the day of the LORD be DARKNESS, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?”

Isaiah 13:6, 9, 13: “Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty. … 9 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it. … 13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.”

    2 THESSALONIANS 2:1-10

As you read 2 Thessalonians below please keep in mind the following phrases: “the day of the Lord” and “that day” which are also in 1 Thessalonians and the prophets above.

2 Thessalonians 2:1-10: “Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by OUR GATHERING TOGETHER UNTO HIM, 2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that THE DAY OF CHRIST is AT HAND. 3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for THAT DAY SHALL NOT COME, EXCEPT THERE COME A FALLING AWAY FIRST, and THAT MAN OF SIN BE REVEALED, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. 5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? 6 And now YE KNOW WHAT WITHHOLDETH THAT HE MIGHT BE REVEALED IN HIS TIME. 7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only HE WHO NOW LETTETH WILL LET, UNTIL HE BE TAKEN OUT OF THE WAY. 8 And THEN SHALL THAT WICKED BE REVEALED, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.”

Here in 2 Thessalonians it is definitely speaking of the rapture, “the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him” (v. 1), and this is the passage that tells when it will occur. It will occur when “that man of sin” is “revealed .” That word revealed ” is found 3 times in this passage. And how do we know when the man of sin will be revealed? The Word of God answers:

Daniel 9:27: “And he [that man of sin] shall confirm the covenant with many for one week [7 years]: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.”

The Antichrist will be revealed when he “shall confirm the covenant” for 7 years to re-institute Temple worship, “the sacrifice and the oblation,” in Jerusalem. This will also mark the beginning of the 7 year Tribulation.

Note that some false prophet or teacher had upset the Thessalonian believers saying that “the day of Christ” was “at hand” even forging a letter as from Paul. A Dictionary definition of “at hand” is “present.” Webster’s 1828 Dictionary says, AT HAND, near; either PRESENT and within reach, or not far distant. …” and “AT HAND: happening or PRESENT at this time. … Etymology: from the literal meaning of AT HAND (easily reached)” (Cambridge Dictionary of American Idioms, 2003). The Apostle Paul had already told them in 1 Thessalonians 5 above that they “know perfectly that THE DAY OF THE LORD so cometh as a thief in the night” and that they were “not in darkness, that THAT DAY should overtake [them] as a thief. … For God hath not appointed us to WRATH” (1 Thessalonians 5:2, 4, 9). The reference to “the day of Christ” is synonymous with “the day of the Lord” except for the perspective of the one viewing “that day.” From the view of those on earth it is “the day of the Lord,” but from the perspective of those who have been “caught up … to meet the Lord” it is “the day of Christ.” The phrase “the day of the Lord” speaks of wrath and tribulation, while “the day of Christ” (2 Thess. 2:2; Phil. 1:10, 2:16) and like New Testament terms such as “the day of our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Cor. 1:8), “the day of the Lord Jesus” (1 Cor. 5:5; 2 Cor. 1:14), “the day of Jesus Christ” (Phil. 1:6) always put “THAT DAY” in a good light.

Some erroneously teach that the revealing of “that man of sin” will be when “he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.” (2 Thess. 2:3-4), but this occurs at the mid-point of the Tribulation. The Tribulation saints will already have identified this Antichrist by that time, because he is the same one who confirmed the 7 year covenant to re-institute Temple worship 1,260 days or 42 months earlier (Rev. 11:2-3, 12:6; 13:5). This fact is definitive as seen from the context of the aforementioned verses (1 Thess. 5:1-9; Dan. 9:27; 1 Cor. 1:8, 5:5; Phil. 1:6, 10, 2:16; 2 Cor. 1:14; 2 Thess. 2:2; Zeph. 1:14-17; et. al.).

Then there is the matter of “what withholdeth that he [Antichrist] might be revealed in his time” (2 Thess. 2:6). Note here that “the son of perdition” is appointed “his time” which will be 7 years, and he will be withheld until then. The withholder is called both “what” and “he.” I believe the King James Bible does this for a reason. It is called “what” because it is a thing, it is all believers of this Age of Grace. It is called “he” because it is the Holy Spirit who indwells all these believers.

Ephesians 1:13-14: “In whom [Jesus] ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the REDEMPTION of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.”

Ephesians 4:30: “And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto THE DAY OF REDEMPTION.”

Romans 8:11, 23: “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also QUICKEN YOUR MORTAL BODIES BY HIS SPIRIT that dwelleth in you. …, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, THE REDEMPTION OF OUR BODY.”

When the Holy Spirit who dwells in us is taken out of the way “then shall that Wicked be REVEALED, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming.” Note again the following two requirements for “the day of Christ” to come: 1) “a falling away” and then “that man of sin revealed” and 2) “he who now letteth … be taken out of the way” (2 Thess 2:3, 7).

This revealing of the Antichrist will not occur at the mid-point of the Tribulation when “he as God sitteth in the temple of God” (2 Thess. 2:4), but rather at the beginning of it as we have already seen from Daniel 9:27 where it says, “And he [Antichrist] shall confirm the covenant with many for one week [7 years]: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease …” This of course would also rule out a post Tribulation rapture.

    1 CORINTHIANS 15:1-4, 20-26, 51-57

1 Corinthians 15:1-4, 20-26, 51-57: “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: … 20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. 21 FOR SINCE BY MAN CAME DEATH, BY MAN CAME ALSO THE RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming. 24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. 25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. … 51 BEHOLD, I SHEW YOU A MYSTERY; WE SHALL NOT ALL SLEEP, BUT WE SHALL ALL BE CHANGED, 52 IN A MOMENT, IN THE TWINKLING OF AN EYE, AT THE LAST TRUMP: FOR THE TRUMPET SHALL SOUND, AND THE DEAD SHALL BE RAISED INCORRUPTIBLE, AND WE SHALL BE CHANGED. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in VICTORY. 55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the VICTORY through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

The prerequisite for going in the Rapture is faith in the Biblical fact of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. Whoever does not believe this fact and that it was for them that He died and rose again will not go in the rapture, but will go into Great Tribulation (vv. 1-4, 20) if they are alive when the Lord comes. If they are in a state of unbelief and die before the Lord comes, it will be even worse, because they will go into hell.

By Adam came death, but by Jesus Christ came the the free gift of justification and the resurrection (vv. 21-22):

Romans 5:12-21: “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: 13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. 14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. 15 But NOT as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, MUCH MORE THE GRACE OF GOD, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. 16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. 17 For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; MUCH MORE THEY WHICH RECEIVE ABUNDANCE OF GRACE and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) 18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. 19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. 20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But WHERE SIN ABOUNDED, GRACE DID MUCH MORE ABOUND: 21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.”

The mystery of the Rapture is that all believers of this Age will be suddenly, in a split second, translated into our new glorified bodies, many alive when it occurs having never died “at the last trump of this Age of Grace (vv. 51-52). As we have seen, it is because of the suddenness of the Rapture that the Lord warned all: “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. 43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch THE THIEF would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. 44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.” (Matt. 24:42-44)

1 John 5:4-5: “For whatsoever is born of God OVERCOMETH the world: and this is the VICTORY that OVERCOMETH the world, even our faith. Who is he that OVERCOMETH the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?”

Revelation 21:7-8: “He that OVERCOMETH shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

    REVELATION 1:18-20, 4:1-3, 6:15-17

Revelation 1:18-20, 4:1-3, 6:15-17: “I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. 19 Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and THE THINGS WHICH SHALL BE HEREAFTER; 20 The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches. … 1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I WILL SHEW THEE THINGS WHICH MUST BE HEREAFTER. 2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. 3 And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald. … 15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; 16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from THE WRATH OF THE LAMB: 17 For THE GREAT DAY OF HIS WRATH IS COME; and who shall be able to stand?”

Revelation 1:19 gives the outline of the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ: The outline is this: John is told to write, 1) “the things which thou hast seen.” This is Chapter One in which he saw the glorified Lord, Jesus Christ (Chapter 1); 2) “the things which are.” These things are the things that were when John wrote and still are now, the Church Age. The letters to the 7 literal churches in Asia are also symbolic for our Age of Grace (Chapters 2 & 3); 3) “the things which shall be hereafter” are everything that will occur after the Age of Grace, the catching up to the throne of God and the scene in Heaven (chapters 4 & 5), the beginning of the 7 year Tribulation with the opening of the first seal which releases the Antichrist on a white horse, and ends with Christ’s return on a white horse (Chapters 6 to 19), the 1000 year reign of Christ on the earth, and after that the casting of Satan into the lake of fire and the judgment of all the lost of all time (Chapter 20), and finally eternal blessings with God who will make all things new including the new heaven and new earth in which there will be no sin ever again. There also “shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away” (Chapter 21 & 22).

But here we are concerned with the rapture of all born again believers of this Age of Grace prior to the 7 year Great Tribulation.

Observe that in the first verse of Revelation it says, “The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:” The word “signified” here means to make known by signs or symbolic language. For example, Jesus “signifying what death he should die” (John 12:33) said, “if I be lifted up from the earth” (John 12:33). In other words the Revelation of Jesus Christ was given and recorded in symbolic language. This is seen throughout the Revelation. Likewise, the 7 churches of Asia all together symbolize the whole Church Age. The word “churches” (plural) is found 12 times in the first 3 chapters of Revelation, and “church” (singular) is found 7 times in chapters 2 and 3. The word “churches” is found only one more time in the Lord Jesus’ concluding statements, in the last chapter, in Revelation 22:16. So the word church is not seen in the Tribulation at all. I believe this is another evidence of the pre-Tribulation Rapture.

Note again that the last of the three things the Lord Jesus told John to write concerned “the things which SHALL BE HEREAFTER” (v. 19). When the Lord finished dictating the 7 letters to the 7 churches to John, then John wrote this:

Revelation 4:1: “After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of A TRUMPET talking with me; which said, COME UP HITHER, and I will shew thee things which MUST BE HEREAFTER.”

The Lord Jesus Christ said, “I am the door” (John 10:7, 9; cf. Matt. 7:13-14).

This is obviously a symbolic signification for the Rapture (1 Thess. 4:16-17; 1 Cor. 15:51-52), and after “the judgment seat of Christ” for believers (Chapter 4; cf. 1 Cor 3:11-15; 2 Cor. 5:10), and after the Lamb receives the 7 sealed Book to open (Chapter 5) the Antichrist is revealed on a white horse when the Lord Jesus opens the first seal of the 7 sealed Book. This begins the 7 year Great Tribulation.

It is interesting that directly after the Lord Jesus finished “signifying by what death [Peter] should glorify God” (John 21:19, cf. v. 18) that “… Peter, turning about, seeth THE DISCIPLE WHOM JESUS LOVED following; … 21 Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do? 22 Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me. 23 Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee?” (John 21:20-23) The Apostle John never mentions his own name in his Gospel, but he always refers to himself it terms such as we see here as, “the disciple whom Jesus loved” (cf. John 13:23, 19:26, 20:2, 7). Surely Jesus loves John, but does He not also love all his people? Yes! John himself is a symbol of all believers of this Age. Furthermore, John did tarry till Jesus came in the signified Revelation of Jesus Christ.

The Lord Jesus Christ has already “… delivered us from the wrath to come.” It is as sure as it has already happened. He did it by His death and resurrection from the grave the third day. The Lord has delivered us from hell, and also “… from the wrath of the Lamb … [of] the great day of his wrath …” (Rev. 6:16-17) which is the 7 year Great Tribulation.

1 Thessalonians 1:9-10: “For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God; And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even JESUS, WHICH DELIVERED US FROM THE WRATH TO COME.”

Matthew 24:21: “For THEN SHALL BE GREAT TRIBULATION, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.”

Daniel 12:1: “And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy [Daniel's] people [Israel]: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.”

Jeremiah 30:7: “Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.”

    ZEPHANIAH 2:1-3 & ISAIAH 26:2-4, 20-21

Zephaniah 2:1-3: “Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O NATION NOT DESIRED; Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, 2 before the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you, before the day of the LORD’S anger come upon you. 3 Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD’S anger.”

Isaiah 26:2-4, 20-21: “Open ye the gates, that the righteous NATION which KEEPETH THE TRUTH may enter in. 3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. 4 Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength: … 20 COME, MY PEOPLE, ENTER THOU INTO THY CHAMBERS, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until THE INDIGNATION be overpast. 21 For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.” (cf. Jn. 17:17 = Truth; 1 Tim. 3:15 = Keepers of it.)

1 Peter 2:9-10: “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy NATION, A PECULIAR PEOPLE; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.”

Hosea 2:19-20, 23: “And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies. 20 I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness: and thou shalt know the LORD. … 23 And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them which were not my people, Thou art MY PEOPLE; and they shall say, Thou art my God.”

Romans 9:24-26: “Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles? 25 As he saith also in Osee, I will call them MY PEOPLE, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved. 26 And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God.” (cf. Eph. 2:11-22)

The people in the above passages that are called the “Nation not desired,” “the righteous Nation,” “an holy Nation,” “a peculiar people” and that God calls, “the people of God” are not Israel, but are people of all races and nationalities who have received Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour. In the Apostle Paul’s second letter to the local church in Corinth he said:

2 Corinthians 5:17-21: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then we are AMBASSADORS FOR CHRIST , as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. 21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”

After Jesus asked, “… whom say ye that I am?” (Matt. 16:15), Peter answered, “… Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God” (Matt. 16:16). To this the Lord Jesus replied, “… upon this rock, I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Matt. 16:18). The Lord Jesus Christ has been building his church for over 2,000 years now. It is built upon the profession of heart felt faith that Peter gave. Christ himself is the Rock upon which His Church is built. A time out was called for the Dispensation of Law with the last Old Testament prophet, John the Baptist, and the Dispensation of Grace began with Christ building His church, the Bride of Christ. John the Baptist stated as much:

John 3:28-31: “Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him. 29 He that hath THE BRIDE is THE BRIDEGROOM: but THE FRIEND OF THE BRIDEGROOM, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled. 30 He must increase, but I must decrease. 31 He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.” (cf. Eph. 5:23-27; Rev. 19:7-9; Ps. 45:10-16)

Luke 16:16: “The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.” (cf. Matt. 11:13)

The Word of God was originally given to Israel to follow and for safekeeping (Acts 7:38; Rom. 3:1-2), but upon their rejection of their Messiah, this responsibility was transferred to His church. The Lord’s true church, the local church, established by Him, has kept His Word from its inception and will continue to do so till the end of the Age, when at the Rapture, this responsibility will revert back to Israel for the last 7 years of their Age (Dan. 9:27), and after that comes the Millennial Reign of Christ on the earth (Rev. 20:1-9).

Matthew 28:18-20: “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to OBSERVE ALL THINGS WHATSOEVER I HAVE COMMANDED YOU: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

1 Timothy 3:15: “… the house of God, which is THE CHURCH of the living God, the pillar and ground of THE TRUTH.” (cf. Matt. 28:20; Jn. 17:17)

John 14:15, 21, 23-24: “If ye love me, KEEP my commandments. … He that hath my commandments, and KEEPETH them, he it is that LOVETH me: and he that LOVETH me shall be loved of my Father, and I will LOVE him, and will manifest myself to him. … If a man LOVE me, he will KEEP my words: and my Father will LOVE him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. He that LOVETH me not KEEPETH not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.”

John 15:10, 20: “If ye KEEP my commandments, ye shall abide in my LOVE; even as I have KEPT my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love. … Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have KEPT my saying, they will KEEP yours also.”

1 John 2:3-5: “And hereby we do know that we know him, if we KEEP His commandments. he that saith, I know Him, and KEEPETH not His commandments, is a liar, and the Truth is not in him. But whoso KEEPETH his word, in him verily is THE LOVE OF GOD PERFECTED: hereby know we that we are in him.”

1 John 5:2-3: “By this we know that we LOVE the children of God, when we LOVE God, and KEEP His commandments. For this is the LOVE of God, that we KEEP His commandments: and His commandments are not grievous.”

Revelation 3:10: “Because thou hast KEPT the word of my patience, I also will KEEP thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.”

    2 PETER 3:8-14

2 Peter 3:8-14: “But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. 14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. 14 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you.”

Romans 2:4-11: “Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? 5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; 6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds: 7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: 8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, 9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; 10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: 11 For there is no respect of persons with God.”

We know that the day of the Lord (2 Pet. 3:10) means the Tribulation, but it appears that it is only the beginning of the day of God (2 Pet. 3:12), the 1,000 year Sabbath of God when Satan will be locked away for that time. From the Book of Revelation we see the utter wickedness of the heart of man, because even with Christ on the throne and a perfect world many unregenerate people will once again follow Satan. Yes, they will have to receive Christ just as in every dispensation.

Revelation 20:1-15: “And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, 3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. 4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. 7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. 10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. 11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”

    CONCLUSION

Luke 21:36: “Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.”

Amos 5:18-19: “Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light. As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.”

If you have not yet received the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour so that you will not have to go into the Great Tribulation or even worse, Hell, then please do so.

Salvation was the very first thing that Jesus preached:

Mark 1:15: “… repent ye, and believe the gospel.”

The gospel is the good news “… that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures” (1 Cor. 15:1-4). The Lord’s death paid our sin debt, and His resurrection is His guarantee that He will also raise from the dead to be with Him in heave forever.

The apostles Paul and John also taught repentance and faith:

Acts 20:21: “… repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.”

2 Corinthians 7:10: “For godly sorrow worketh REPENTANCE to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.”

Romans 2:4: “Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to REPENTANCE?”

2 Peter 3:9: “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to REPENTANCE.”

Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

1 John 5:4-5: “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our FAITH. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that BELIEVETH that Jesus is the Son of God?”

Ephesians 2:8-9: “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

2 Corinthians 5:21: “For he [the Father] hath made him [Jesus] to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”

1 John 3:5: “And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.”

I received Christ as my Lord and Saviour in 1977, and he saved and changed this wicked sinner. Not that I am perfect now while in the flesh, but I experienced a great change, and when Jesus comes for me either at the Rapture or to raise my dead body and rejoin it with my living spirit, I am sure I will eventually be perfected and live with Him forever! I can say this with confidence along with the Apostle Paul:

“Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” (2 Timothy 4:8)

“Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.” (Titus 2:13) “Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.” (Philippians 3:21)

And to those of you who have likewise been born again through the word of God by the Holy Spirit let me remind you of these words of the Apostle John:

“And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming. … Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.” (1 John 2:28, 3:2)

John 14:2-3: “In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”

Hi Kent- I’ve always enjoyed your teachings on Creation. I think you might want to rethink the pre- rapture of the Church. Sure there’s always going to be persecutions against Christians until the end of this age. Persecution is unbelievers harming and killing Christians. The Coming Wrath of God is a whole different thing. God’s Wrath is not meant to be on His kids. God’s Wrath and the Time of Jacobs Trouble is about God’s wrath on unbelievers and the Jews. Why would God want to bring His wrath against The Church – He loves us. He also loves Israel and the Jews bur right now they in disbelief but will turn to him during The Time Jacobs Trouble And Gods Wrath on the Earth. You have to realize that the coming Wrath is not about persecution its about Judgement. Paul tells us we are not meant for Wrath and he tells us of a catching away and to look for the Lord’s return. He was looking. When you believe in the post trib rapture you are looking for the anti-christ because in that scenario he comes first. When you believe in the pre-trib rapture you are looking for Jesus. Paul tells us to look for Jesus. That book you got about the Scottish girl is all wrong and is to make a man of God look foolish. I ask you to really reconsider your stance.

In spite of this grievous post I will continue to pray Kent Hovind be released soon and I will continue to pray to be counted worthy to escape the things that are to come to pass.

Luke 21:36 – Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

You truly are an inspiration to me. Several years ago I was no longer welcome as an independent Baptist as I had found out the truth of pretrip rapture theory but I still continued to promote your videos even with the theory as they were the best creationism for the common man. Even your prison sentence did not change my mind. And now I am encouraged to promote your work even more so. May God be a great blessing to you for your courage to speak up on this topic. Dave McPherson is the author and journalist whose books I read, changing my mind. May we all be blessed and have the courage to suffer for the name of Christ.

    Dr. Hovind,

Let me first day that your seminars on creation science are amazing & there are many, including myself, that are so grateful for you making them & sharing them. Truly a blessing. I’ve also learned from your seminars that you’re also willing to learn & listen. Please check out Pastor Bryan Denlinger’s YouTube channel regarding the time of Jacob’s Trouble. Listen to his teachings with an open mind & hopefully you will change your view regarding this. Everything he preaches is backed up with scripture. I, along with many others, are praying for you. God bless. http://www.youtube.com/user/husky394xp
